Our Church History

While serving as Pastor of the United Student Fellowship, USF, a campus ministry located at North Carolina State University, Pastor Reginald Stepney and the alumni members of USF were commissioned in 1998 by Bishop Corletta Vaughn of Go Tell It Ministry Worldwide Network of Churches to plant a local church to reach the harvest of souls in the city of Raleigh, North Carolina, and even the Nations. After much prayer, direction and counsel from many other supportive leaders, along with the increasing ministry desires and needs of the campus ministry, Pastor Stepney accepted the call to plan a church. The Pastors still remember the words spoken by Bishop Vaughn at their new home in 1998, “God build you a house, will you build Him one?”

The church was originally called Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle with emphasis on Faith in God, Pentecostal to represent the gifts and the move of the Holy Spirit, and the Tabernacle symbolizing the Old Testament Church. Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle, affectionately called FPT, was birthed in January 2000 and we held out first Worship Service at the Hillsborough Street YMCA in Raleigh on Sunday, January 23, 2000 at 6:00 p.m. The first sermon, entitled “A United Front,” was powerfully preached and delivered by Senior Pastor Reginald Stepney.

The commission was to plan and build a church of God and all people. Through the wisdom of Bishop Vaughn and the desire to appeal to the masses, the name, Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle, was changed to include a place of worship for everyone, the “church” and the “unchurched”. The name was officially changed on February 4, 2000 to Fulfilled Promise Tabernacle (still FPT) – a place ‘where the Promises of God are Fulfilled’.

Fulfilled Promise Tabernacle continued to hold evening services at the Hillsborough Street YMCA through April 16, 2000. Our first 11:00 a.m. Worship Service was held on Easter Sunday, April 23, 2000. How appropriate, that as we commemorated our Savior’s glorification, FPT also celebrated our change in status. While we continued to hold our Sunday Worship Services at 11:00 a.m., our bible studies were held jointly with USF until the end of April 2000. On Wednesday, May 2, 2000, FPT held our first bible study at the Hillsborough Street YMCA.

Fulfilled Promise Tabernacle relocated its Sunday Worship Services and Wednesday night bible studies to the Garner Road YMCA on June 25, 2000. These services continued at the Garner Road YMCA until the purchase of our current building at 320 Bledsoe Avenue, Raleigh, North Carolina, on July 31, 2001. The first service held in our new facility was on August 26, 2001.

“We are a multi-cultural, multi-racial prayer center, perfecting spiritual gifts, ushering in the presence of God, restoring families to God’s original purpose and equipping people for faithful kingdom living.” This Vision Statement serves as the focus of this ministry along with the Mission Statement of “Evangelism is Our Supreme Task.” The Lord has enable Fulfilled Promise Tabernacle to reach and instruct “the harvest” through Spirit-led church services, community outreach programs and various ministry gifts. We endeavor to evangelize this great gospel to those who need it most, the lost.

We embrace and experience the power of God at Fulfilled Promise Tabernacle in many ways. God continues to add to the church, provides spiritual and physical healings and miracles, provides powerful instruction in His word, and continues to make provisions for this church. We applaud the work of our God in establishing this church in every aspect. We endeavor to reach the city of Raleigh and even the Nations with the gospel of God’s original plan for all people as found in Genesis 1 and 2.

God, who began this great Ministry in 2000, has prospered this Ministry, and will continue this great Ministry. We are humbled and thankful to God for His divine favor, presence and power shown to this great people for this decade. On July 14, 2010, the Spirit of the Lord declared this prophetic work over Fulfilled Promise Tabernacle.

Deuteronomy 8: 7-10, 18

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with flowing streams, with springs and underground waters welling up in valleys and hills, a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey, a land where you may eat bread without scarcity, where you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron and from whose hills you may mine copper. 10 You shall eat your fill and bless the Lord your God for the good land that he has given you.

18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, so that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your ancestors, as he is doing today.
